Please keep balcony drains clear from leaves and other items

The headlines warned us of ‘heavy and persistent rain’ throughout
Autumn and they weren’t wrong. Recent inclement weather led to
a deluge of phone calls into the Co-op office as residents reported
leaks. While our contractors are employed to keep the grounds clear
of potential blockages and prevent where possible, or fix inevitable
problems, there is a lot you can do to help too. Simple measures will
save the Co-op money and make your life easier. Crucially, please
make sure your balcony drains are clear from leaves and other debris.

A possible consultation

Many of you may have noticed storage space for bicycles in the form of containers, known as cyclehoops, springing up across  Wandsworth. As more and more people take to riding bikes, having somewhere to store them has become a priority. The council are eager to encourage us to drive less and exercise more, so they have provided funding to support these schemes. Even so, individuals are required to pay an annual fee of £70 plus if they wish to use them. The council fund has been used up this financial year but if it is something that residents would like us to investigate, please email the office to register your interest. If there are enough people keen on finding out more, we would need to hold a formal consultation in plenty of time, ensuring we are in a position to apply for funding once the new financial year begins. Give us a call or email the office to let us know what you think.

AGM 24th November,7.30pm

As envisaged, this year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held online via Zoom. You do need to be a Co-operative member to attend. If you’re not one yet, you can download an application form and send it in with a £1 fee or ask us to email it to you. We also need your email address so we can send you an invitation to join, along with any necessary documents such as an agenda. If you haven’t already done so, please fill out the pop-up form on the home page of the Co-op’s website or simply email us telling us you’d like to be included.

Using Zoom

There are several ways to access Zoom meetings but you must have a smart device (phone or tablet) or a computer and access to the internet. We are very keen to make sure all who want to attend the AGM can. If you are unfamiliar with the technology, we hope this brief guide will reassure you. However, if it continues to worry you, let us know and we will do what we can to help. Provided you are not showing any symptoms of Covid, we can offer some doorstep training, but note, we are unable to enter your home due to current restrictions. Zoom works best if you download the app. You can, however, simply click on a hyperlink which we will send in the AGM invitation email. That takes you to the meeting on the internet. But using the link outside the app is not always reliable. Once you’ve downloaded the app, you will need to register with your email address and choose your own password. After we send the invitation you can either:

1. Click on the link and it will automatically open your app if you have it, but if not, it will take you to the internet-space. You will be asked to enter the meeting password which will also be in the email we send you.

Or

2. You can simply open the app directly and input the meeting ID number (which will come in the email from us) and then the password. Once you’re in, make sure your audio and video are ON at the bottom of the screen. Click on ‘Chat’ which is also at the bottom. Here you can type comments if you prefer not to speak. Please contact us if any of this concerns you. Otherwise, we look forward to seeing you on the 24th!

Note: correction to earlier advertised time which should be 7.30 pm
